Maggie Houlihan Memorial Slated for this Week
This will be a time for the community to celebrate the life of the longtime councilwoman and animal rights advocate.
Nine years ago Houlihan rescued Rose (the brown dog in this photo) from a shelter, just minutes away from euthanasia. "[Rose] is proof of what good training and love can do," Houlihan said of her dog during a public tribute held in her honor at Rancho Coastal Humane Society.

Residents are invited to a public memorial for Maggie Houlihan Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. at Cottonwood Creek Park.
The event will be a community celebration of the longtime councilwoman and animal welfare advocate. There will be an ‘open mic’ period, during which residents can share thoughts and memories of Houlihan.
Everyone is asked to bring blankets or low-back lawn chairs for seating.
