Weight: 60 pounds

Gender: Female, spayed

Breed: Hound/Boxer mix

At 60 pounds, Big Mama may not be the largest dog you’ve seen— but she does have one very big heart that’s brimming with love. Once upon a time she was a mommy, too, but now that she’s been altered, those days are behind her. She's ready to kick up her paws and enjoy life as a freewheeling, family dog.

Mama is mellow and willing to do whatever her new family wants. That includes running, meeting new dogs at the dog-park or beach, or just kicking back on the couch. As long as she has someone to love, and someone who loves her, Mama will be a happy dog.

Big Mama is available for adoption at Rancho Coastal Humane Society. Her adoption fee of $125 includes medical exam, spay, up to date vaccinations, and microchip identification.

is located at 389 Requeza St. in Encinitas. The hours of operation are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Tuesday, when the shelter opens at 11:30 a.m.
