Pet of the Week: Callie

Each week, Encinitas Patch works with the to feature a pet in need of a loving home.

This week, meet Callie, a dog who never met a person she didn’t like.

• Gender: Female, spayed
• Breed: Australian Shepherd / Heeler mix
• Okay with dogs? Loves other dogs
• Okay with cats? Hasn't been with cats since arriving at RCHS from Mississippi 

Callie believes there are two kinds of people: Those who are her friends and those who are going to become her friends. She's such a snuggler, she would crawl inside your clothes to be closer to you if you would let her.

Callie was transferred from an overcrowded animal sanctuary in Mississippi and arrived at Rancho Coastal Humane Society after an 1,800-mile ride in a van, so if you want a dog that likes rides in the car, she should fit the bill.

There's still a lot of happy puppy energy left in this dog. In her new home she's going to need some time to settle in and get comfy. After that her new family is going to have years of companionship with the love of their life.

Callie is available for adoption at Rancho Coastal Humane Society. Her adoption fee of $125 includes medical exam, spay, up to date vaccinations, and microchip identification.

 is located at 389 Requeza St. in Encinitas. The hours of operation are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Tuesday, when the shelter opens at 11:30 a.m.
