Political Sign Controversy in Encinitas Inspires Song

A local musician has penned a song about a video that shows Encinitas Mayor Jerome Stocks and Councilman Mark Muir posting campaign signs early.

An Encinitas resident recently shot footage of Mayor Jerome Stocks and Councilman Mark Muir posting campaign signs before local ordinance allowed it. The video has since gone viral in the community with more than 1,700 views at press time. And now, that same video has inspired a song.

The song was posted on YouTube.com Wednesday by user named Trevor Trevitis and is entitled Just Some Good Ole Boys. The nearly two-and-a-half-minute video blends the original footage of Stocks and Muir with images of Boss Hogg and deputies from the TV show The Dukes of Hazzard. The lyrics, which are posted on YouTube below the video, call the men “fat cat political insiders” and describes their behavior “sneaky.”
