Update: More Details About the New Pacific Coast Grill

The owners of announced that the Cardiff beachfront restaurant will open its doors in June, about one year after it moved operations from the original Solana Beach location. 

The new restaurant at 2526 S. Coast Highway (formerly Charlie’s) has been completely revamped, and some new details about the project have just come to light: According to a news release, designer Georgia Goldberg worked with architect Steve Adams to create the classic Baja-inspired façade. Inside, there are two levels of dining space and painstaking detail has gone into making sure each seat has an ocean view.

On the bottom level there’s a raw bar and heated patio—and upstairs you’ll find front-row bar seats overlooking the sea, along with a lounge area in front of a ‘treasure chest’ wine cellar, which was brought over from the original restaurant location. There’s also a large deck with sweeping views of Cardiff’s coastline—and a private dining room with its own private deck. 

"The restaurant celebrates its environment," said Goldberg in the news release, which went on to say that the interior incorporates natural beach elements, like reclaimed boat wood, beach rocks and a neutral color palette.

Though the menu is ever-evolving, many of the more popular entrees will make a comeback at the new location, like sea bass and shrimp dumplings, spicy char-pork tenderloin, lobster tacos and white chocolate bread pudding with caramel bourbon sauce. The kitchen staff will continue to grind certified Sterling beef for all the burgers, and make fresh-cut Kennebec fries with house-made ketchup.
