What’s Cooking: Four New Eateries Slated for Encinitas

There’s a flurry of new eateries coming to Encinitas over the next few months. Here’s a quick update on some dining options you might want to keep on your radar while you’re out and about this season:

If you’ve been near the intersection of El Camino Real and Encinitas Boulevard, you’ve likely seen the new Chick-fil-A restaurant that’s sprouted up next to Khol’s. The $1 million construction includes a double lane drive-thru, which will open Nov. 8, according to the company’s website. Chick-fil-A has also set up a hiring center in the same shopping center, and its accepting applications online.  The company, which seen a lot of public backlash for its political views on gay marriage, has more than 1,600 locations in the nation, and this will be the first in Encinitas. Over on the east side of El Camino Real crews have started working on the new Native Foods Café. The vegan café was supposed to open last autumn, but after a year delay, spokeswoman Andrea McGinty confirmed that it’s slated to open this winter. McGinty said she’ll be doing a walk-through of the restaurant this week and should have a projected grand opening date after that. Patch will keep you posted.

Next month Brazilian eatery Sabor de Vida will open its doors on Encinitas Boulevard next to the Tuesday Morning. Owners Ana Simon and Rafael Pedroso—who live in Village Park and hail from Porto Alegre, Brazil—said they’re finalizing a few details and waiting for approval on a couple permits. The restaurant will specialize in gaucho-style barbecue and Brazilian tapas intended for sharing. For a sneak peak at some of that food, you can check Sabor de Vida’s Facebook page.

Soltera Winery and Kitchen is aiming for a grand opening in late December or early January, according to owner Christopher Van Alyea. The approximately 5,000-square-foot-space on Coast Highway 101 in Leucadia will feature a demonstration vineyard so customers can learn how wine is made. There will also be space for about 300 barrels, a tasting room, and a restaurant serving up Mediterranean tapas that pair well with the wine menu. Soltera—which gets its name from the Latin words for “sun” and “earth,” two key elements in wine production—will serve a hefty list of wines made from grapes grown in San Diego County.
