Will Neblett is the new Executive Director of the San Dieguito Heritage Museum. A long-time resident of North County, Will graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a B.A. in History and at the same time, earned a teaching credential. He worked as an elementary school teacher for 13 years, teaching 3rd, 4th and 5th grades for the Oceanside Unified School District. Later, Will became a School Based Resource Teacher for Oceanside Unified, coordinating programs for children with special needs and leading staff development along with the implementation of technology. Will spent 14 years as Executive Director at San Diego Junior Theatre. In this capacity he helped strengthen the organization, both financially and artistically. His non-profit experience at Junior Theatre includes leading a staff of 60, producing over 120 productions, planning and implementing 54 educational sessions, writing grants for over one million dollars, working with thousands of volunteers, designing and executing marketing campaigns, and increasing the budget from $350,000 to $1.2M. Will was a founding member of the Balboa Park Cultural Partnership, a collective of 24 museums and performing arts venues.
Will’s background in history, education and non-profit management will serve the San Dieguito Heritage Museum well. He plans on increasing membership, expanding the 3rd grade education program and continue the build out of the Museum’s site on Quail Gardens Drive in Encinitas. Other plans include increasing sponsorship and attendance for the Annual BBQ in May and the Lima Bean Festival in October.
