Bee Informed of the 'Queen of the Sun'

An environmental film on bees will be screened at Whole Foods June 7.

They buzz, they sting and they're absolutely crucial to our environment.

Bees are often seen as a nuisance, but they actually play an important role in our ecosystem. This Thursday, Encinitas residents can visit the Whole Foods courtyard for a look at the importance of these insects and the global bee crisis.

will be screened at dusk on June 7 at the courtyard. The 83-minute documentary takes a look inside the beehive and takes viewers on a journey through the catastrophic disappearance of bees. The film aims to educate the world about the colony collapse disorder of bees and how that could spell out colony collapse disorder for humans.

This screening is part of Whole Foods' Bee Awareness Campaign that's being held throughout June in stores across the country. In conjunction with the Queen of the Sun screening, Whole Foods will also have their local, treatment-free honey vendor, Backyard Bees, on site to sample their skin care line and honey.

This event is free to attend, simply bring your own blankets and chairs and get ready to be informed.
