Cardiff Library Expansion Opens Tomorrow

Live performances, a ribbon-cutting, and kids' activities will mark the major addition.

Thursday at 10 a.m. the community is invited to join County Supervisor Pam Slater-Price and County Library Director José Aponte to celebrate the opening of the expansion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, entertainment, kid’s activities and refreshments.

The expansion adds about 25 percent more useable space to the library, including a space for community and children’s programs; an expanded children’s room; a redesigned teen space; a remodeled computer lab, lobby, and book stacks; and a Poets' Patio with a laptop bar, Wi-Fi, demonstration garden and sun shades.

Besides being a place to access the system’s 33.7 million books, DVDs and CDs, the library’s expansion makes room for more educational, inspirational and entertaining programs and services, including after-hour community events.
