Cardiff to Celebrate its Centennial

Locals will honor the seaside town Saturday with a parade and festivities at Glen Park.

Cardiff by the Sea will celebrate its 100th birthday Saturday with a parade and festivities at . Grand Marshal Marion Ross will lead the procession from the Cardiff post office down to the park, where locals can enjoy music, food and fun.

Events will include a historical exhibit curated by Friends of the ; live music by Bucket Ruckus, Wigbillies, Night Doctors, Todash Band and Rocket Science; an arts and crafts fair; children’s activities; and food and drinks provided by Cardiff eateries , , , Bull Taco, and Sambazon.

The seaside town was founded in 1911 by J. Frank Cullen, who named it after Cardiff, Wales. Several of the area’s street signs were given British names, too, such as Birmingham, Chesterfield and Manchester.

The centennial celebration will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, starting with the parade.
