Celebrate Encinitas Environment Day Sunday

Encinitas Environment Day will take place June 10 at Cottonwood Creek Park.

The United Nations World Environment Day fell on June 5, and to supplement the do-good day, Encinitas is having it's very own awareness event.

will be held on Sunday at a local park to celebrate six years of sustainability. The Solana Center for Environmental Innovation, along with support from the City of Encinitas and the Mizel Family Foundation, Dudek Engineering, Studio Aiuto Design & Marketing, Olivenhain Municipal Water District and DEMA, is bringing together a group of vendors that will educate, entertain and more.

Families can come to the event and learn new and fun ways to live more environmentally-sustainable lifestyles. Guests are encouraged to walk or bike to the event to help reduce your carbon footprint. Anyone who does walk or bike can enter a drawing for a new Electra Bicycle. Other raffle prizes include tickets to Legoland, the San Diego Zoo and the Birch Aquarium.

Encinitas Environment Day wil be punctuated with food, music, new environmental concepts and interactive activities for the kids, including an eco-scavenger hunt. 

This eco-friendly day will take place June 10 at . The green fun will go from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with a bike and helmet safey instruction from El Camino Bike Shop, followed by a bike rodeo, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Animal lovers can catch a "Free Flight Exotic Birds" show from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
