Construction on Coastal Rail Line in Encinitas

North County Transit District will be replacing railroad ties in Encinitas from East G St. to Birmingham Dr. Nov. 15-18 resulting in overnight noise.

North County Transit District will be replacing railroad ties on the coastal rail corridor – the tracks on which the COASTER travels – from now through November 24, 2013. Approximately 9,800 railroad crossties from the San Diego County line to Sea World Drive in San Diego will be replaced through this project. NCTD’s crosstie replacement will occur at night to avoid interruption of regular COASTER service. This work will not impact train schedules.

Workers will use heavy machinery to replace the crossties, resulting in noise in the project area. This project is part of normal railroad maintenance, which includes periodically replacing aging ties before the ties fail to keep the rail property aligned.

The night work will be conducted from approximately 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Nov. 15-18 in Encinitas from East G St. to Birmingham Dr.
