Inhale then exhale. The human breath is part of a natural process providing oxygen to the body—but for one local woman, breathing is what she's fighting for.

Anna Young, a 31-year-old Cardiff resident, has spent most of her time in and out of hospitals since high school. Young is living with a rare lung disease and is need of a double lung transplant said in a statement.

According to Young's website, after months of medical testing, Young was approved for a double lung transplant at UCLA Medical Center. She is third on the wait list and the transplant will cost $1.1 million dollars.

While insurance will cover most of the cost, Young will still have to pay for caregiving, medication, hospitalization, and post-transplant costs. Along with day-to-day living expenses like rent, gas, food, and health insurance.

Young worked in media relations for the San Diego Padres, but as her lung disease progressed, she became unable to work.
