Fire Prevention Week is kicking off with a this Saturday at .
The open house will be based around the Prevention Week theme, “Protect your Family from Fire.” Awareness will be raised about the leading causes of home fires, like cooking, candles and electrical equipment. The week's theme is based around the fact that 2,565 people died in home fires in 2009, according to the National Fire Prevention Association.
Aside from important fire information, this is a great opportunity for families to have fun. Kids will have a chance to dress up like their heroes in firefighter clothing and have their faces painted. There will also be public station tours, fire equipment displays and free safety items for anyone who shows up. You'll also want to be sure to check out the station's prized new 2010 Pierce Arrow XT 100’ Heavy Duty Tiller Truck, and meet Sparky the Fire Dog.
