Group Is Trying to Save the Former Pacific View Elementary School

A group of Encinitas resident is working together to save the old Pacific View Elementary School property. The school has been vacant since 2003 and the property is slated to be auctioned off for sale on March 25.

ABC 10 News reported Tuesday that the group, dubbed Save Pacific View, will attend this afternoon's Encinitas Union School District board meeting to continue its fight of the possible sale.

Scott Chatfield, with Save Pacific View, told the new station it is basically a "death sentence" to sell the property.

"We're talking about a large, amazing piece of cherished property," he told them.

Encinitas Union School District Superintendent Dr. Tim Baird has said the property no longer works as an educational resource and money from the sale would support the children.
