Encinitas Patch Week in Review

Taking a look back at the week of May 29, just in case you missed something.

This week, Encinitas Patch snapped photos at a local surf contest, said farewell to Oprah, reported the latest on the Surfing Madonna and more.

Memorial Day weekend was filled with great local surfing and surf-watching as Encinitas’ K5 Board Shop held its Fourth Annual at the D Street break.  Not only was the event a great place to catch some sun and local talent, it also came complete with sand-eating kids!

Five hospitals in San Diego County—including —were fined Thursday by the California Department of Public Health for failing to follow policies that ensure patient safety.

While Encinitas’ waits to be tested for her City Council-ordered removal, community organizations worried about damage are gearing up to help preserve her and find her a new home.  DEMA and Leucadia 101, among others, have formed a committee to raise funds for the mosaic.

The Encinitas City Council voted Friday to a recent Superior Court judge’s ruling to release a draft report of the city’s road conditions that had previously been sealed.  The 4-1 decision was made in a closed session discussion, with Councilwoman Teresa Barth opposing.
