Encinitas Surf Report: Feb. 19

If you need to get in the water today, take a bath instead.

It just looks plain ugly this morning. Although it's not currently raining, conditions are not clean whatsoever. Onshore winds are forecast to gust up to 20 mph with more rain likely in the forecast.

It would be wise to stay out of the water for a few days. The County of San Diego’s Department of Environmental Health recommends staying out for 72 hours after a significant rain event, which is defined as at least two-tenths of an inch of rain.

We definitely had at least that yesterday with more in store for later.

If you're made of steel and still want to paddle out, the morning high tide is still dissipating any fun peaks from materializing combined with the onshore chop.

Hit the gym, go for a run, read a book, watch movies and be lazy might be the better call today. Of course, you never know, things could clean up. Yesterday's storm was stalled for a good while before it finally drenched San Diego. But it looks like the onshore flow will remain throughout today.
