Encinitas Surf Report: Feb. 28

Small day for surf; more exposed southern spots might be better.

At least the water doesn't look like a chocolate milk swamp after the weekend's storm—that's the silver lining for this morning's surf report.

There are some swell lines, but it's an extremely weak system.

A southwest pulse is still visible and may get stronger. If you hop in your car, chances are you'll score some bigger waves.

Let's call it knee-high this morning. The tide drains until about 12:30 this afternoon hitting bottom at about -0.4 feet from this early morning's high of 5 feet. Past 7 p.m., the tide will fill in to under 4 feet (3.7 ft.).

If the winds stay calm, the afternoon push might be a little fun.
