“Parents and community members need to be aware of , and educated about, the growing trend of drug use among kids, teens, and young adults in our community,” said BILY San Diego Coordinator Mymy Cade to Patch in an email. “Beyond educated and aware, we need to be armed with tools and methods to fight this growing problem that is robbing the health and well-being of our kids, families, and community.”

Guest speaker Joseph Olesky, a district substance abuse counselor for the San Dieguito Union High School District’s READI Program, will speak to the audience about dealing with family members and drugs as well as therapies that are offered for those struggling with drugs. Olesky is the recipient of the Debi Nixon Education Award for his work in the field of drug and alcohol prevention education.
