Jump on Encinitas' First-Ever Historical Bus Tour

Tickets are available for 94 people to participate in the Sat. Sept. 28 first-ever historical bus tour of more than two dozen points of interest throughout Encinitas.

The Encinitas Preservation Association (EPA) is pleased to announce its first historical bus tour.  The three-hour tour will cover 40 historical points of interest within the City of Encinitas including Bumann Ranch and San Elijo Lagoon. The tour is a great opportunity to learn about Encinitas and visit the historic places that make Encinitas the unique city that it is today. The EPA will be hosting two tours that day. The first tour will be held from 9:00am to 12:00pm and the second tour will run from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. The buses will depart from City Hall in Encinitas (505 S Vulcan Ave) and return there at the end of each tour.  The tour is sponsored by Sea Coast Exclusive Properties.  Ticket pricing is $40 for one ticket or $75 for two tickets. Delve Into the Past

The tours begin and end at the Encinitas Civic Center, 505 South Vulcan Avenue. In-between, participants will get up close and personal with familiar locales such as the La Paloma Theatre and iconic Boathouses while delving into the past at the history-steeped 1883 Schoolhouse and San Dieguito Heritage Museum.

Tourists will learn about our community’s longstanding and rich diversity of religious beliefs as exemplified by the Self-Realization Fellowship and the Greek Orthodox Church. They will travel west to world-famous Swami’s beach and east to the emblematic Bumann Ranch, seldom seen by the public.

Richard Bumann and his wife, Twink, continue to reside on the Olivenhain area property. He will be among the tour guides accompanying people to his family home. Established in 1886, the ranch once encompassed 360 acres, where generations of Bumanns raised chickens and dairy cows and grew an abundant crop, including barley, wheat and other staples. Visitors are sure to marvel at the old farm implements and household items on display.
