Living Well in Encinitas

Second annual event focuses on all aspects of a healthy lifestyle, with free classes, lectures, events, and more.

Encinitas fully embraces its reputation as a holistic-minded, yoga-loving, healthy-living community, and that’s most evident during Wellness Week, which takes place Jan. 22 to 28.

The second annual event, sponsored by the , includes lectures, free and discounted fitness classes, demonstrations, merchant deals, and other offers that promote good, clean living— and the local businesses that provide those services.

New this year, Wellness Week is bookended by opening and closing festivals. On Jan. 22 from 1 to 4 p.m., an expo at the focuses on all aspects of well-being. Attendees can try out chiropractic, acupuncture, and Reiki mini-treatments, see fitness and cooking demonstrations, and get a baseline look at their own health with free screenings and exams. To close out the week, a festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 28 at Moonlight Beach. In addition to an expo with vendor booths, music, and food, you can finish the week strong by participating in a beach workout, volleyball clinic, fitness challenge, or Qi Gong class.

In between those two festivals, there will be several opportunities to explore various aspects of wellness. Some highlights include free hot yoga classes at Yoga Tropics; 'Health Starts Here' tours of Whole Foods Market; a screening of the documentary Food, Inc.; and a Tibetan sound healing concert.
