Local Bounty at the Leucadia Farmers Market

This local market is more than just fresh produce.

Taking place on Sundays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Paul Ecke Central Elementary School on Vulcan Avenue, the Leucadia Farmers Market has become quite the local hot spot, and one stroll through the inviting marketplace makes it easy to see why. The mainstay of the market is, of course, the fresh organic produce, which provides the community with consciously cultivated food while simultaneously supporting local farmers' efforts. The bond established by connecting the cycles of the seasons through eating locally grown produce brings us into greater harmony with our local environment. The most recent seasonal selection includes lettuce and kale, sprouts, avocados, squash, beets, apples, citrus and strawberries.

While these locally produced foods may have set the stage, today's market has quite a cast of entertainers vying for your attention. In addition to produce, vendors offer everything from snacks such as hummus dips and popcorn to full meals such as crepes and acai bowls, Mexican and Indian selections—even sushi.
