New Season of ‘Amazing Race’ to Feature North County Couple

The CBS reality show will include an Encinitas man and a Carlsbad woman.

Hit reality show The Amazing Race makes its season premiere Sept 30—and a couple of the cast members may look familiar.

One of the teams taking on the challenge is from North County, according to UT San Diego. Ryan Danz, a business owner from Encinitas, is paired with Abbie Ginsberg, a dance instructor from Carlsbad who grew up in Encinitas.

Their team, the “Dating Divorcees,” will be on of 11 to traverse the globe, traveling 25,000 miles across three continents—all in hopes of winning a $2 million prize.

The North County locals certainly have their work cut out for them. In an interview with TV Grapevine, Ginsberg said she and Danz had clear hurdles to overcome if they wanted to win the competition.

“I would have to say it's a tie between learning to communicate and not piss each other off at the same time,” she stated. “We can be juvenile and sarcastic with one another. The other would be our battle for control and power over each other. We are both Type A and can be bull-headed.”

Aside from possibly winning the million bucks, both say they signed up for the challenge because they hope to “gain clarity” about their relationship.

If you’d like to see how it pans out for these local lovebirds, you can tune in to CBS (channel 8) on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 8 p.m.
