Photo Gallery: SRF Pumpkin Carvings

Get a preview of tonight's Halloween exhibition.

Crowds were already gathering in front of the Self Realization Fellowship (SRF) bookstore this afternoon as crews put the finishing touches on . The pumpkins — which are harvested from SRF’s nearby patch and carved by the monks — aren’t your typical jack-o-lanterns. The handy work and artistry you’ll see is downright impressive. Of course, the real magic will happen tonight, when the jack-o-lanterns are glowing, but you can get a sneak peek in this photo gallery.

If you go check out the display tonight, be sure to swing by the Queen’s Court at the Self-Realization Fellowship bookstore’s parking lot. Kids are also welcome to trick-or-treat along Pumpkin Lane (South Coast Hwy 101, from Encinitas Blvd. to K street). Participating businesses along that stretch will be passing out candy, the 101 Artist’s Colony will have a kids zone where children can enjoy games, and there will be music courtesy of Bucket Ruckus.

Tonight’s festivities are presented by the with immense help from those at (SRF) who grow and harvest the pumpkins on the hill above Vulcan, south of Santa Fe Drive.
