‘Ridiculous’ Race Has Heart in Right Place: May 5K Aids Challenged Athletes

Are you ready to get ridiculous for a good cause?

VAVi Sport & Social Club is hosting the third annual Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge (ROC) Race on Saturday, May 11, at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

The ROC Race is a 5K that features 16 “outrageous obstacles” including what organizers call the world’s largest inflatable slide and the wrecking ball.

This year the ROC Race will benefit Challenged Athletes Foundation.

Organizers hope to raise at least $50,000 to benefit the organizations Operation Rebound program.

NBA Hall of Famer Bill Walton is helping organize the event.

“I am extremely passionate about the Challenged Athletes Foundation and am privileged, honored and excited for the opportunity to partner with VAVi and ROC Race in support of the CAF,” Walton said in a statement. 

 “This event presents a great opportunity to showcase the amazing talents of challenged athletes and inspire a large audience action.  I encourage you to make a donation today or join our fundraising teams and come to be part of something special.”
