Surf Report & Forecast for March 19-20
Long-period 3-foot swell with chance of some rain.
As the NW swell begins to fade out over the weekend, especially doing so tomorrow, the 20th, we still have a little south in the mix but the NW is still the dominant system.
Long-period intervals and no sun might have you shivering if you don't have a warm wetsuit, but when the chest-high waves come through hopefully you'll get a long enough ride to keep you warm on the paddle out.
Right now, winds are calm, but with the full moon peaking at 11 a.m. this morning, there's a radical tidal swing, peaking at high at over 5 1/2 feet at 9:30 a.m. and draining out until 3:45 p.m. at -0.4 feet.

Winds are expected to remain light, perhaps a very slight onshore chop.
Head-high waves and even higher are not out of the question today but expect most wave heights to be at the 3-4 foot range.

Sunset tonight: 7:03 p.m.; dark by 7:55 p.m. and the full moon rises tonight at 7:28 p.m.
Tomorrow, the 20th, will look a little more sloppy and mixed up as we have a 70 percent chance of rain and possible south winds. Wave heights, though, will not be flat and are expected to remain in the chest-high range.
Dawn patrol for the 20th officially begins at 6:02 a.m.; sunrise: 6:56 a.m. and first high tide of the day is 5.3 feet at 10:30 a.m.
