Surf Report & Forecast for March 9-10
Hope you got it yesterday—today is small once again.
Yesterday's mixed-up swell with strong currents didn't make for the best conditions, but at least it had some nice size with take-offs in the overhead range.
Unfortunately, there's no carryover of significant wave heights—call it 1-3 feet for today. The silver lining? Conditions seem much cleaner than yesterday.
A new south swell supposedly will fill in later this afternoon but most Encinitas breaks probably won't pick it up. A drive up to Oceanside or other standout south-facing breaks may produce waves that would actually make it worth your time.

Winds are calm right now and expected to turn slightly onshore later in the day.
Tide is rising all morning but will only reach the 3-foot mark (11:30 a.m.). It is expected to drop to just under 2 feet at 4:45 p.m. So not much of a surge or drain today.

Looks like we're in for another pattern of weak surf.
Today's sunset: 5:56 p.m.; dark by 6:50 p.m.; moonset: 10:40 p.m.
Tomorrow, March 10, a building NW and another south swell move in. Wind might be an issue tomorrow, but find a spot that can handle the wind and we'll hopefully see chest- to shoulder-high waves with occasional head-high sets.
Dawn begins at 5:17 a.m. tomorrow and sunrise is at 6:10 a.m.
Pray for surf.
