Dromia. The San Diego band plays folk music from Balkan and Southeastern European countries. Trio members are Mary Marshall on various ethnic percussion instruments, Sanna Rosengren on vocals and violin, and Dan Ziagos on accordion. The series presents hand-crafted metal forms embedded, fossil-like in richly textured turquoise and black slabs that could be mistaken for stone, but are in fact glass. Thru Jan. 12, 2015, Jim Hornung, Zocateq: Tribal Work and Cultural Protectors. Mixed media. The Zocateq is a mythical creature created from the bones of different animals. Historical research has revealed the use of different animals gave the Zocateq the attributes of those animals. Heritage Community Christmas Tree Lighting at Moonlight Beach. Now a City designated Heritage Tree, the 84’ tall towering Norfolk Island Pine Tree is visible for miles and is perhaps the tallest lighted, living tree in North County. Each December it is covered in LED lights during the holidays. It was planted in 1952 by John & Peter Danforth as a Mother’s Day gift for their mother Jane. Children under 6 must hold the hand of an adult while in the studio.
