Encinitas Artwork Wanted for General Plan Update

The deadline for submissions is Sept. 1.

The Commission for the Arts is encouraging Encinitas artists to submit entries that could potentially be featured in the city’s general plan update, a document that outlines a long-term vision for the community.

Each of the nine chapters of the general plan will showcase artwork by an artist who lives in Encinitas, ages 18 or older. Anyone interested is asked to submit one image per chapter of an original artwork (no photography) that best relates to one of the nine chapters:

  1. General Plan Introduction (classic Encinitas)
  2. Land Use and Community Design
  3. Housing
  4. Circulation (pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle transit)
  5. Resource Management (stewardship of the local environment)
  6. Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities
  7. Public Safety (emergency response, bluff stability, seismic conditions and other local hazards)
  8. Public Health
  9. Noise

Detailed directions about how to submit artwork and the selection process can be found online. The deadline for submissions is Sept. 1.
