Families Can Enjoy Art Two Ways

Family Open Studios Plus lets families create art and watch it.

Looking for a free weekend activity with the family? Carlsbad’s Dove Library has a program too good to miss.

is a performance and an art-making workshop in one. It’s held in conjunction with the exhibits over at the Cannon Art Gallery in the Dove Library. The newest exhibit shows off the work of five contemporary artists and each of their various areas of expertise: painting, drawing, sculpting, ceramics and installation.

All residents are invited to Family Open Studios for a hands-on workshop that will offer up numerous projects that all ages can enjoy. All materials will be provided for the art projects, just bring yourself and creativity! 

As a little extra (the “Plus”), Optus Mixtus contemporary dance ensemble will be performing in the library’s courtyard. The group is choreographed by Carlsbad resident Heather Dale Wentworth. The ensemble will break dance and invite children from the audience to participate in some of the dancing. The free performances will take place at 11:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. the day of the event.
