The North Coast Singers are in Encinitas this weekend for a , with songs from all over the world.
North Coast Singers, which was founded in 1993 by Artistic Director Sally Husch Dean, consists of four ensembles, serving 110 children in grades 2 through 12. It’s is largely supported by grants combined with corporate and individual donations and this spring, the students will travel to New York’s Carnegie Hall with the La Jolla Symphony Chorus.
You can hear the talented North Coast Singers this Friday and Saturday at a special concert that will feature songs from around the world. Two of the Singers advanced choirs, Caprice and Capella, will be performing on Fridays show. They’ll sing songs like The Wedding Cantata of Daniel Pinkham, along with some traditional spirituals.
Saturday’s show will feature four ensembles that will sing songs from around the world that signify a fresh start, like the Kalanta of the New Year, from Greece and Bashana Haba-A an Israeli song of hope for the New Year.
Other music you can expect are some Chinese folk songs, an Italian carol and the classic New Year theme, Auld Lang Syne.
