Surfing Madonna Immortalized in Leucadia Mural

If you miss seeing the popular artwork, you can now catch a glimpse of it every time you cruise down N. Coast Highway.

The Surfing Madonna has been sighted in Leucadia.  

Sunday afternoon an image of the popular artwork appeared on the wall outside the Mobil gas station on N. Coast Highway. Cardiff artist Kevin Anderson is adding the Surfing Madonna to his mural there, which he originally painted four years ago.

The actual Surfing Madonna artwork—a mosaic formally titled Save the Ocean— first showed up under a train overpass off Coast Highway . Though it was wildly popular, the because he didn’t have permission to put it up in the first place.

Since then, the Surfing Madonna has struggled to find a permanent home. It near the intersection of Moonlight Beach—but after the state , Anderson felt inspired to find some room for Surfing Madonna in his mural.

Anderson has been spending his weekends updating his mural. He still plans to spend the next several weekends the finishing touches on his homage to the Surfing Madonna.
