New President Named for Friends of Cardiff & Carlsbad State Beaches

Two board positions are still available.

At its Nov. 17 board meeting, Friends of Cardiff & Carlsbad State Beaches named Carlsbad resident Bill Wisener as the non-profit group’s new President for a two-year term.

“Bill has been a key force helping our beaches organization grow over the past two years, first behind the scenes and most recently as the vice president of our board,” said Bill Mahoney, founding board member of Friends of Cardiff & Carlsbad State Beaches or FCCSB.

Wisener is a former logistics executive, who was in charge of the supply chain operations for several multi-national corporations. He has also taught logistics at the graduate level.

“Bill’s expertise on our Project Committee helped us plan and execute many improvement projects recently in the local state parks at both San Elijo State Beach in Cardiff and South Carlsbad State Beach,” said Mahoney. “Bill will definitely take FCCSB to the next level as its new leader.”

Bill Wisener was instrumental the transformation of an area at South Carlsbad from an old surf school to a special events area called Pelican Point, which serves non-profit organizations and earns FCCSB revenue through wedding rentals. FCCSB is looking to fill two vacant board positions. Carlsbad Beachfest organizer Tammy Urie has resigned from the FCCSB board. FCCSB is also mourning the loss of board member Gene Kemp, a longtime California State Parks volunteer, who passed away on Oct. 11.
