Encinitas Weekly Construction Report: Activity Takes A Dip

Encinitas construction rides the low side of the wave for the week ending Oct. 14.

Combined building permit activity in Cardiff and Encinitas witnessed a substantial drop - nearly 57 percent - over last week.

"Need-to-have" construction activity was responsible for most of the otherwise sparse permits issued.  Need-to-have projects included:  electrical work, HVAC, plumbing, and water heaters.

A dismal week for construction starts, to be sure.

A total of four remodeling/addtion projects saw permit activity this week.  In an odd contrast to a generally slow week, three pool/spa projects were reported.

When contacted, our private-sector developer sources indicate that new projects are in the works and should be materializing soon in the 92024.
