Need some remodeling work? Or just an upgrade? Chances are if you did in the past—you called Ms. Sparky Electric.
The local company has been delivering its goods to the region for years.
Now, owner Mary Stapleton gives Patch a look inside the company.
Patch: Why did you choose Encinitas o open your business?
Mary Stapleton: I chose Encinias/Leucadia to open my business because I have lived in the area since 1996 and I love it here. There is nowhere else I'd rather live!
Patch: What are some of the current challenges you face as a business owner?
Stapleton: Staying busy on a consistant basis.....when it rains, it pours!
Patch: What distinguishes your business from others in the same industry?
Stapleton: Ms Sparky is different because there are few women electricians who are also business owners. My logo sets me apart and connects with alot of people.
Patch: What's the best business advice you've been given?
Stapleton: Best advice was to go for it, and use all the different resources available to small business that I can. The Small Business Development Center in Oceanside has been extremely helpful on many levels.
Patch: What changes, if any, would you like to see in the local business community?
Stapleton: I would like to have commercial rentals down to a more affordable cost, but being coastal I realize that probably is not going to happen anytime soon!
