Encinitas College Drop Out Quits Restaurant Job to be Professional Fantasy Sports Player

Encinitas resident Chris Reeder, 30, was sick of bussing tables in Del Mar and decided to quit his job and now spends eight hours a day playing fantasy football as a living.

Encinitas resident Chris Reeder, 30, was sick of bussing tables in Del Mar and decided to quit his job and instead focus her energy on fantasy football.  

“I’ve been playing fantasy since fifth grade,” he told the U-T, “A couple of years ago, I started playing in daily and weekly leagues. Six months ago I quit my job.”

Reeder recently won $10,000 in a fantasy football tournament in Las Vegas.

According to the U-T article, elite fantasy sports players can make over $100K per year or derive their main source of income from playing.

The U-T writes that Reeder starts his days checking projections and injuries followed by, "six to eight hours playing up to as many as 500 games a day," treating it like a full time job.
