Encinitas Planning Commission to Consider Permits for 2 Restaurants

The Encinitas Planning Commission will meet 6 p.m.  Aug. 15 at the council chambers to consider requests for two local restaurants.

Deputy Mayor Lisa Shaffer outlined two items of interest to residents in her newsletter:

On August 15 at 6:00 pm the Planning Commission wlll be meeting to consider a request from the Bier Garden restaurant to "modify design treatment of the building and outdoor patio area." This relates to the large windows that open into the courtyard. If you like or dislike their proposal, this is your chance to express yourself.

At the same meeting, the new Lobster West restaurant (where Subway was, near Lotus Cafe and Soulscape, in the Lumberyard) is requesting approval of a Minor Use Permit and Coastal Development Permit to allow for wine and beer sales and consumption. This restaurant closes at 10 pm, and has agreed to that condition on their permit if approved.  Again, whatever your view, this is your opportunity to express support or opposition.
