The San Dieguito Heritage Museum will celebrate local heritage by hosting its annual BBQ at the Museum site.
This year the 24th annual BBQ weekend celebrates the contributions of Richard and Adeline Bumann to the heritage of the San Dieguito area. They are the recipients of the “Living Heritage Award” for their work in preserving the Bumann Ranch. This year’s BBQ is also special as it is a return to the Deep Pit BBQ. For 20 years, the San Dieguito Heritage Museum’s BBQ was cooked in the ground according to tradition. Cooking BBQ in a deep pit makes the tastiest BBQ.
The BBQ event starts at noon and food will be served until 2:30 p.m. During the event, the museum and exhibits will be open for visitors to browse through. There will be kid’s activities, a silent auction, a $100 cash drawing and a bake sale. Several vehicles will be on display, including a 1957 Del Mar Fire Department fire engine, a stagecoach, a 1917 Model T Ford and other unique cars. There will be music provided by Two of Us Plus One.
Tickets are $25.00 for adults ($30.00 at the door); $20.00 for teens (13-17), $10.00 for children (5-12), under 5 is free with an adult.
