Flippin’ Pizza is turning up the heat once again for the third annual ‘Create-A-Pie’ March Madness Contest, inviting fans to take a shot at designing their own pies and winning delicious prizes. Aspiring chefs and hungry fans can get a taste of the action by submitting a pie and by voting for their favorites, on the Flippin’ Pizza Facebook Fan Page (www.facebook.com/flippinpizza) and in-store during the final rounds. The winning pie will be featured in all Flippin’ Pizza stores, nationwide, during the month of April.

Joining the tournament is as easy as pie! Fans create their own pizza using a maximum of five toppings from the provided list, and post the name and ingredients via the “Create-A-Pie Entries” tab on the Flippin’ Pizza Facebook. Flippin’ fans are called to post their entries on Facebook through Friday, March 9. Participants earn three points for submitting their recipe, and one point for every “like,” “comment” and “share” of their post. In conjunction with the NCAA March Madness, the sixteen pies with the most points will make-up the Savory Sixteen, as well as determine their seed.

Savory Sixteen will run from Thursday, March 15 through Sunday, March 18. Four pies will play each day and voting will continue on the Flippin’ Pizza Facebook Fan Page. The eight best pies will move on to the next round -- Edible Eight -- running from Thursday, March 22 through Sunday, March 25. During Edible Eight, fans can get a taste of the action in-store, with $1 slices of the day’s matched up pies; with two pies matching up each day. The top four pies will move on to the Flippin’ Final Four, to be announced on Monday, March 26.

For the final round, which begins on April 1, fans voting in store will receive a free soda while giving their favorite pie a three-point shot! Fans can also vote on Facebook for free-throws, worth 1 point. Flippin’ Final Four voting ends on Monday, April 2. The winning pie will be announced Tuesday, April 3, on the Flippin’ Pizza Facebook Wall. Whether fans submit a recipe or join in on the tasting and voting, they will have the chance to win tasty prizes, including free pizza for a year and gift cards valued from $25 - $100!

About Flippin’ Pizza:

Flippin’ Pizza’s unique pizza pie recipe originated in Sicily over 30 years ago. The craze over this pie in New York made it apparent that the West Coast was missing out and thus, Flippin’ Pizza was born. Flippin’ Pizza was launched in 2007 as Patrick Farley, owner of the original Knockout Pizzeria of Carlsbad, expanded his concept to more pizzerias in San Diego. It is the mission of Flippin’ Pizza to be the neighborhood pizzeria that provides a true slice of New York to every customer who walks through their doors.

Hi Edward, I didn't hear any reports on the scanner or from sources of crashes, rescues or hardRead More landings.

The public deserves an objective, unemotional, factual public debate on this proposition. So far IRead More am still leaning toward a yes vote, but I am keeping an open mind at least through this month.

That may very well have been part of it. Grandma had an affinity for liquor as well, but grandpaRead More hated alcohol with a passion and wouldn't allow a single drop of it in the house. Sometimes the man's leadership is essential.

Aunt Judy was probably a very lonely person and turned to comfort in a bottle. What a darn shame.

And you know what ladies, if you don't like Batman's way you don't have to do it Batman's way. ThisRead More is America, not Batmerica, and it's not Flanderstan either. My grandmother's sister decided to become a career woman instead of geting married and having a family. She started and ran a very successful accounting business, back in the 1930s! So who needs Flanders and his women's lib? There's nothing standing in your way, there never has been. Flanders and the rest are lying to you. Aunt Judy did become an alcoholic though and died rather young because of it. Would that have been different if she had been a family woman? Nobody knows.

Well said, Nama. I was speechless to see how many people Uncle Ben had influenced during his life,Read More but it's no wonder. There may be one less Ben Taylor in our lives, but Heaven just got a whole lot more fun!
