Foodie Amor bakery opened its doors this week in Leucadia off Coast Highway 101, next door to
In the kitchen, you’ll find owner Christine Miller, who bakes all sorts of all-natural goodies, including biscottis, cookies, brownies, sweetbreads, bars and seasonal candies—all made without any preservatives. Miller which she learned form her grandmothers while growing up on her family’s farm in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley.
If you drop by the 800-square-foot bakery, you may notice a contraption that looks like an elliptical machine. That’s actually a StreetStrider, an exercise machine that her husband Kevin sells via his company—and if you want to give it a go, he's happy to offer a test drive down Vulcan.
If you’d like to check out the new business, there’s a grand opening celebration slated for next Friday, Aug. 3. That day the bakery will offer a buy-one-get-one-free special on cookies from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and customers can take a ride on the StreetStrider.
"We thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to 'keep Leucadia funky' with our delightful bakery of sweet and savory, all-natural treats combined with StreetStrider, the elliptical that moves you," Miller said.
And you may already be familiar with Miller’s confections. Her baked goods are already carried at Nordstrom Espresso Cafes—and locally at , , and Solana Beach Coffee Company.
