Carlsbad-based SPY is at it again. The local business posted another billboard on Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas that will get you thinking... and it may be controversial, again.

It simply has the message "HTFU" on it.

In the past, the maker of sunglasses had posted “Happy to Sit on Your Face” to promote its new Happy Lens, a line of sunglasses designed to make whoever wears them happier by letting in more sunshine to boost serotonin levels in the brain, and another billboard with "Happiness Is Coming..."

SPY is asking readers what the new message means too. On it's Facebook page it posted:

We are Happy to put a smile on people's faces with our new billboard in Encinitas, California, but what does it mean? Comment on this post with what you think "HTFU" means, and here's a hint, it's always good to start with HAPPY. The person with the happiest, most creative answer will win a new pair of SPY sunglasses with the Happy Lens!

What do you think it means? Let us know in the comment section below.

Happy Times For You? Happy To Fix You? Happy To Face You? Happy To Fool You?

I thought I saw someone say "Happy To Frame You" I thought that to be "fitting"...

Happy to fit you,)

I'm assuming this billboard is another one of Spy's attempts to put something offensive in front of our children. These cryptic billboards only lead to questions from my children that I do not want to answer. I can only imagine that their marketing team is made solely of men.

HTFU. Reguardless of what you think it mean or what it actually means, people are talking about it and thats great marketing. Would you rather it say something like welcome to Encinitas? Happy to frisk you :)

Well considering their past antics, this probably has a derogatory message as well. I am confident they make bets to see how many days it takes for Encinitas to pull down their billboards. Seems like a waste of money to me, just put something up like everyone else so we dont have to fight you. "Happy to Fight you" "Happy to Frighten you" Happy to Freak you"? or worse... .. .........!

Thank you Spy for a billboard that generates some thought and creative energy, and not just another mindless ad that contributes to the dumbing down of America. Happy To Forego Umbrage

When my kids asked me "what does WTFU mean?", I replied "HTF do I know?"

Nice one Jonathan! hahaha. Happier Than Furry Unicorns?

Another attempt by a company to try and sneak the "F" word on a billboard...original and offensive. Hope They Fail Unfortunately I give it a week tops.

Anything that adds humor to my morning commute is fine by me. I can't honestly say I know how to interpret this message, but it's a fun way to spend my time before jumping on the 5. Happy To Find Uplift is the best I've come up with yet.
