Lourdes recently opened its doors in Cardiff, offering locals another option for their California burrito fix.
The small eatery serves about a dozen burritos—including machaca and chorizo for breakfast. The menu offers all the staples you’d expect: shredded pork tortas, quesadillas, carne asada fries, enchiladas, chilaquiles, chile rellenos, tostadas de ceviche, chicken flautas and barbacoa and fish tacos. The restaurant’s claim to fame, however, is its Mexican-style chicken soup, which comes with a side of corn tortillas.
There’s also a kids menu and a salsa bar with several fresh salsas, though diners are warned to avoid the habanero if they can’t stomach hot stuff. Breakfast here will run you about $5, and lunch and dinner range from $5 to $9.
The Cardiff location is Lourdes’ third restaurant. There are two other locations in Escondido.
Lourdes is at 2113 San Elijo Ave. and open Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, call (760) 230-2610.
