Veterinary Center Offers Monthly Kids' Day Program

Every month, the staff invites curious youngsters behind the scenes into the treatment area of the hospital, where each participant dresses up in a lab coat and helps a veterinarian perform a routine physical examination.

The Drake Center for Veterinary Care in Encinitas is offering a Kids’ Day program for children especially interested in animal care.

Every month, the staff invites curious youngsters behind the scenes into the treatment area of the hospital, where each participant dresses up in a lab coat and helps a veterinarian perform a routine physical examination. The kids get to use a stethoscope, look at slides through a microscope, examine X-rays and learn about general pet care.

For hospital owner and veterinarian Dr. Michele Drake, the program is a way of passing the torch.
