Hey Encinitans! Did You Know We’re in Issa’s Congressional District Now?

Encinitas and several other cities in North County have moved into a different congressional district starting with the upcoming election. That district is currently served by Republican Darrell Issa.

Every ten years the census is conducted and the population is divided evenly into districts for the purpose of establishing voter representation. The “redistricting” was quite different this time: It was performed by a Citizens Commission rather than the usual group of partisan hacks.

The congressional districts were changed significantly in San Diego County, and several cities, including Encinitas, have been moved into the 49th Congressional District starting with the 2012 election. A map is attached to this post that shows the new outline of the 49th.

The 49th Congressional District is currently served by Darrell Issa.

If you just regurgitated in your mouth, it’s time to pay attention.

Are you someone who tends to favor people over corporations? Does the fight for fair elections, women’s rights, the right to breathe clean air and drink clean water, and other human rights issues catch your attention? If so, the fact that Issa is representing you should be alarming, since Mr. Issa has been fighting against these issues since taking office in 2001.

We need you to get involved in the upcoming election! Encinitans against Issa!

While the odds might appear to be against our anti-Issa forces, I believe we have a chance to get rid of Issa this year! Republican turnout will be low if their presidential candidate is lackluster, but regardless, we happen to have a stellar independent candidate running against Issa named Dick Eiden. I’ll tell you more about Dick Eiden in future articles, but in the meantime you can read about his campaign at Eiden4Congress.net.
