Carlsbad Resident Arrested in Connection with Encinitas Robbery

Deputies still seek a female suspect.

Officials have made an arrest in connection with a Feb. 28 armed robbery at Radio Shack, 228 N. El Camino Real, in Encinitas and are still seeking a female suspect.

Stephen Barrera, 19, turned himself into the Carlsbad Police Station after a warrant had been placed for his arrest. He was taken into custody and charged with robbery, according to San Diego Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. Joe Montion.

A male and female brandished firearms and threatened to shoot employees and a customer if they didn’t follow directions, he stated, adding that the duo took cash, media game consoles, cell phone a television and other items from the store.

The female suspect is still at large, he added in a news release:

The female suspect was described as being a Hispanic female with dark hair, medium skin tone, thin build and about 5'4" tall. Anyone with information about this case can call the Sheriff's Department non-emergency line at (858) 565-5200.
