Coroner: Christmas Eve Crash Victim Died of Natural Causes

The Medical Examiner's Office said a passerby found Benjamin Taylor of Oceanside unresponsive Monday afternoon in a Ford F-150 pickup truck, which was in a ditch against a tree near Manchester Avenue.

A 49-year-old man who was found dead in a truck off an Encinitas roadway on Christmas Eve died of natural causes, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office reported today.

The Medical Examiner's Office said a passerby found Benjamin Taylor of Oceanside unresponsive Monday afternoon in a Ford F-150 pickup truck, which was in a ditch against a tree near Manchester Avenue.

Paramedics administered CPR, and Taylor was taken  to Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas, where he was pronounced dead despite aggressive attempts to revive him.

Autopsy findings showed Taylor died due to "hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease."
