Drake Center to Hold Pet Care Lectures

The Encinitas-based veterinary center will hold three free lectures in Carlsbad dealing with pet health. Suggested donations of $10 will go to animal-related charities.

The Encinitas-based Drake Center for Veterinary Care will hold three lectures in the coming months dealing with pet health. The lectures—held at the Whole Dog Sports Center in Carlsbad —are free. Suggested donations of $10 will go to animal-related charities. 

Jan. 23—— This lecture with Dr. Kathy Boehme will address the incorporation of alternative treatments—such as acupuncture, herbs and food therapy—into mainstream Western veterinary medical practice and what it can do for your pet's health and well being. 

Feb. 27—"Solving Your Pet's Skin Issues"—This lecture with Dr. Michele Drake will explore the many causes of skin problems in pets—such as infection, parasites or allergies—and the solution to these issues.

March 27—"Nose for Needles: A Look at Veterinary Acupuncture"—This lecture with Dr. Amanda will examine the use of acupuncture in pets with conditions such as arthritis, back pain, tendon or ligament injury, diarrhea, kidney disease and more.

Each lecture starts at 6 p.m. at 6241 Yarrow Dr, Carlsbad.
