Encinitas Printing Veteran Keeps Craft Alive by Opening New Shop

A new print shop is sprouting in Encinitas as early as Wednesday. While the shop is new, the owner's face may be familiar.

Michael Spratley worked locally for Anderson Stationers on 2nd Street until the owner, Mark Anderson, died earlier this year.

A long-time client approached Spratley and planted the idea of starting his own business across the street, he said.

"This is where we've come," he said. "It's time to keep the printing alive in Encinitas."

The shop offers a wide range of printing jobs from business cards to large format photos.

"Just about anything you can imagine with paper," he said, adding that he also offers all types of binding.

His favorite item to print is oversized photos.

"People get a real kick out of them," he said.
