Feds Investigating Empty Boat Washed Ashore in Encinitas Monday

According to reports, the boat was found by U.S. Border Patrol agents just after 5 a.m. near San Elijo State Beach.

Federal authorities are performing an investigation about an abandoned panga boat that washed ashore on an Encinitas beach on Monday morning. 

According to reports, the boat was found by U.S. Border Patrol agents just after 5 a.m. near San Elijo State Beach.

Panga-style boats are often used to smuggle drugs or people into the country, said agent Jerry Conlin. He added that there was no drugs found in the boat, nor was there any indication that the boat had carried drugs.
