Firehouse Subs is scheduled to open April 26, franchise owner Bill Mutz told Patch. And while the restaurant is known for its variety of sandwiches, the soda machine might attract customers.
It will feature a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine, which dispenses about 120 types of soda. Many of them aren’t available in stores.
The restaurant will open next to Kohl’s on Camino Real as early as April, spokeswoman Emily Oliver told Patch.
Franchisee Bill Mutz also owns the Oceanside location, which opened in March of last year. Firehouse Subs—a Florida-based company founded by firefighters—features various firefighter-themed sandwiches.
Mutz predicts the Hook and Ladder (smoked turkey breast, Virginia honey ham, and melted Monterey Jack cheese) will be its top seller as it is in other locations, but not without competition.
“It’s number one, but the others are starting to crowd it,” he said.
Here are some other specialty subs:
The New York Steamer has corned beef brisket, pastrami, melted provolone and Italian dressing. The firehouse hero has roast beef, turkey, Virginia honey ham and melted provolone. The engineer sub has turkey breast, melted Swiss cheese and sautéed mushrooms.
Order the sub “fully involved” to get it with mayonnaise, deli mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a kosher dill pickle on the side, according to its menu.
Vegetarians can enjoy a hearty veggie sub or the Chief Salad, Mutz added.
